While Nas often reminisces on his upbringing and career during many of his most notable songs in his career, he shifts his focus to present day, urging listeners to worship and hold to a high regard newer releases such as the King’s Disease trilogy the same way that his classics such as Illmatic, It Was Written, and I Am… were and still are today. The nostalgic feel and sound of the track includes a sample of Mary J Blige’s “You Remind Me”. “Reminisce” marks the halfway point of Nas’ King’s Disease III, the fourth consecutive album from Esco to be executively produced by Hit-Boy.
